How does app blocking work?

Nephi's Gate uses Apple's official Screen Time (Family Controls) API to block apps you select. When the gate is closed, those apps display a locked screen. Once you complete your daily reading goal, Nephi's Gate removes the restriction and opens the gate for the rest of the day.

Why does the app ask for Screen Time permissions?

The app blocking feature requires access to Screen Time so it can apply restrictions to the apps you choose. This permission is granted through Apple's official Family Controls framework. Your data stays on your device and is never shared with us.

Can I bypass the gate if I need to use an app urgently?

Yes. You can always open Nephi's Gate and manually unlock apps from the settings screen if you have a genuine need. The goal is accountability, not a hard lock that gets in the way of your life.

When do my apps get locked again?

Apps re-lock at your configured daily reset time. You can adjust this in Settings — pick a time that matches when your morning begins (e.g., midnight or 6 AM).

What reading options are available?

You can read directly in the built-in Book of Mormon reader inside Nephi's Gate, or launch the official Gospel Library app or the Book of Mormon app. The timer tracks your session regardless of which method you use.

Does Nephi's Gate work on iPad?

Nephi's Gate is designed and optimized for iPhone. iPad compatibility may vary.

What happens if I miss a day?

Your streak resets to zero, but your best streak is saved so you can chase that record again. Missing a day is just motivation to start a new one — open the gate and begin again.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your reading progress, streaks, and settings are stored locally on your device with optional iCloud backup for your own use. We do not collect or sell personal data.
